Well, if the first engine picture was a "before" and the 2nd was an "after" picutre, you should go back and ask them if you can have your other 2 cylinders back, and tell them to put it back into V instead of an inline [rofl]

as far as i know, the 7 series only had one I6 and that was the 728. all others, 730 and 740 were V8!!! now that is interesting. is the 735 really a I6???? that would be new for me and unfortunatelly i found no data for the 735 in special...but i'm still looking

that looks more like a e38. i am lazy, so did he write the year somewhere? i am pretty positive it is not the 32 version. and with E38 the 735 was a V8.

the front is just not E32
.

the older one does not have the same grill and lights.

and the wheels are the M wheels for E38 7er and 8 series.

His is heavily modded, I think it IS an e32 (no he never said, but look at the picture of his engine, it's definitely not a V8 becuase the intake is on one side of the engine, not the top (like a v8 would have it)

You do NOT HAVE AN M5 ENGINE. So dont post pictures saying it's yours. Please note the M5's intake has 2 air boxes that go into the intake, the 740's intake (which is almost the same) only has ONE airbox going into it.

do you mean the airbox? cause the intake manifold is located between the two cylinder banks. you can't even see it.

well whatever.

the mods that are to be taken to get a E32 to a E38 are maybe as valueable as E38 itself right from the start...that would be crazy.

okay your PS explains it pretty well. good job btw. ultimate evidence would be ifg he can post a pic of the interiour. or maybe the insurance?
He definitely has an Inline 6, there is no way it could be a V8 with the intake his car has...I'd like to see a carfax of his car...

sum up:

it is most likely a E32 735(assumed acc. to the engine pic) with complete E38 optic (assumed acc. to the exteriour pics).

result:

WTF is this car now???? [rofl] [confused] [rofl]
LOL maybe it WAS a 740il, but then when he got it worked on, the people STOLE 2 of the cylinders!! then they pushed the cylinders into a straight 6. [rofl] damn cylinder theifs...

i have theory!!!!!!

listen, when the early E46 M3 engines blew up, it was sabotage by honda and co. see, there are some civics, camries, and shit out there that wear a M3 badge. they faked a blew, and then in the shop the stole some cylinders. damn is that what you call industrial sabotage?
