hmm, i started off sitting there, hit gas and turned wheel.

i have no idea what any of you are going on about.
carcus, if i had a lsd, and my burnout looked like that, i would agree with you then, but i dont see the problem
Neither do I. To me looks like a normal doughnut. What i don't get is why so many people here treat others like school children saying not to burnout, doughnut, and in somecases not shift at the redline. I rekon its just cause most of you don't have the balls to go out and do that shit yourself. DEAL WITH IT and stop spoiling my FUN!!!

I've just never seen anyone be able to do such a nice doughnut without a limited slip differential. Normally, the wheel that is not receiving power prevents the backend of the car from coming around. I saw the nice doughnut and immediately thought LSD - looking at the picture more closely, I see that there isn't really a mark from each tire - only one of them was actually spinning.

mike,

I am all for doing burnouts, doughnuts, and above all else, shifting at the redline. I'm just suggesting to be cognisant of the damage that can be done by trying in vain to get a car that doesn't have enough power to do a burnout to smoke the tires.

You go out and have all the fun you want. Hell, I am all for you. Smoke them tires raw!! Hammer the shit out of you car. I have no balls. Excuse me for my opinion. I have to find my balls, I lost them when I traded in my LS1 engine for the E36.

Damn.....LIGHTEN THE HELL UP PEOPLE!!!! Do you want people to just post, beat the shit out of stuff, it will last longer?????

I tired doing a doughnut on the 325i you see in my sig, I even have a vid of it. I think the car has sports package because of the wheels. When I looked at the tires marks after all of the smoke was gone, I saw two black lines that looked very very similar if not the same. That's because of the LSD, right? If you want I can find a place to host the vid and post it here.

One last topic on the post to explain myself.....hey, it is their car and they can do what they want with that. If they want to rag the hell out of it.....it is all on them. Just be prepared for the bills to come. If you have the money and want to beat the hell out of the car, more power to you. I have a 97 328ic, it has 190 HP, I love the car, the Camaro I had, I bought that to beat the hell out of in 1999, modded it, and had the money to back up what I did if I damaged it. Second torque converter was my Yank 3000....cost...about 800 bucks, rear dif is not cheap. Hell, I bought it as a car to beat the hell out of. Was made for speed. Long story how I ended up owning my second BMW. Hey, I want a car to beat the shit out of also, a nice El Camino painted yellow with a 396 and high stall converter, something cheap to fix, I can rag it and fix it cheap. My BMW is not cheap to fix. It has 190 hp, not a muscle car. Can I rag the hell out of it....yep, but it is my daily driver. I take care of it. If it brakes, it is not cheap to fix. Am I a puss because I do not smoke the tires on my 97 BMW 328ic with 67K miles on it like I ragged my Z28...guess I am. Am I acting like a old fart....well turning 33 this 12th, guess I am getting there. You just do not rag out a BMW for fun, they are expensive to fix, that is my point. If you want to smoke tires, get a nice used Stang 5.0.....tear the hell out of it and have fun. That is what those cars are designed for. Easy to work on and actually fun to work on, parts are at every auto parts store. You want to take a high mile BMW, rag it out, hell....I will back you up if you want to burn out, heck, it is not my car, I could care less. If I post it is not a good idea and you think I am afraid......wish you could sit in the Z28 I traded in and I will show you scary. I was prepared to pay the bills. My 328ic was not bought to be a racer, I will not rag it out. Just my opinion. Funny thing about buying a used German car, some people buy them used...high miles, rag the hell out of them, then brake it.....major repair for a few minutes of fun...WOW!!!! I CAN MAKE BURNOUT!!! All good and fun till something brakes.....especially on a high mile car that the blue book value is not to fair with....even a BMW. You check the prices of a replacement transmission or a engine. I will pamper mine. It is a 97.....crap, slap on some NOS....put in a Fast and the Furious video, do what you want. When it brakes, just be prepared for the mechanic. Not being a daddy to anyone. Again, it is your car. DO what you want. Buy a second car to rag on and make fast. Alot of people dream about buying a used BMW, always wanted one, then they get one, tear it up thinking it is a muscle car....something breaks....you pay the piper. Damn, a replacement key cost me 53 bucks. Do not want to argue anymore one it. I post on the message board to help fix things. I do not want to start a flame war on the board. Just wanted to post why I say the things I do. If you buy a BMW to rag out.....not the car for you....espically used and ragged on....you never know the history of the last owner. If you buy a used muscle car.....you should expect it to be ragged on. Look guys, I love my E36....never thought of it as a car to tear up or burn out. I can make any car spin the tires. Again, if you guys are pissed with the post.....get off the computer and drive the BMW....ENJOY LIFE!!!! Even if you rag it out and break something....I will still try my best to help you out.[thumb]

Sorry about the long post.[thumb]

i completely understand what you mean about raging on a car, especially these bmw's. it costs cash. im sure many dont know to fullest extent what burn outs can do to a car's condition.

then again, i disagree with you on most points. first of all, i refuse to buy an american car for any reason. other than the windstar i drive is free and i have to drive it.
second, break that essay long paragraph up into smaller portions next time (;))

The part about the cost to repair these cars being so high, rubbish. Of course it costs more than american cars. there is a reason we all drive bmw's, because of the quality (most of us agree). reason i say this, is because it costs me the same to do these mods and fixes at nearly the same costs it does my friends miata. you just have to know where to look for parts and how to do some of this stuff yourself.

fourth, i dont do american cars. fifth, did i mention something about german design?

but i do agree that burning out and stressing your car isnt the best thing for it and yes, it sucks to have your bimmer break.
and i suppose i say all this in the light that my car is a project car, racer, daily driver, but i dont have to rely on it everyday.

umm i was generalising. these past few weeks iv'e made several posts that i thought were funny. like doing a burnout all the way across an intersection. [:D] I just get shot down and told to grow up or something. nothing personal to you but i'd had enough of it at that point. re-read the first few posts on this thread and you'll see my point.

I totally agree with you. If you have the money and don't mind spending it then do stuff that break the car. That is why I only did 3 doughnuts that with only have a circle of tire marks. 1 was the trial, the second one my friend took a video of that turned out to be crappy and the 3rd one was the second take for the video that turned out to be good, after that I didn't even try to do any more. Oh, also you can beat the hell out of a rental too if you don't get caught. [;)]

About the video, anyone know of a site to post it on?

I love German engineering and Japanese engineering, but there is not a damn thing wrong with American engineering as well, especially a good old American muscle car. You don't have to buy an American car, but there are many people here that do and love them. Where else could you buy a stock car of the showroom with over 390hp stock and not just from one car or company in any given year? That raw power (even without mods) is something to behold. I grew up with my father and his brothers modding out the old Mopar's (Hemi Chargers, Roadrunners, GTX's, 440 six pack Challengers and even a 440 Dart) and Chevies. Those were the day's I will never forget. I have so many funny a$$ stories about my father and his fool brother and friends. They were crazy. Until one of My Uncles was killed in a drag race.

The other countries have and will never see cars made for such brute power and torque. Most Americans will never see German cars maxed out on the Autobahn. I love both forms of car/driving and not limit myself to only one form.

///M SPEED,

You are my new favorite person! I could not possibly agree with you more - 100%. I love American cars, and I will always own them. I love the power, torque, styling, and fun provided by my Camaro. I also appreciate and love the styling of and driving experience I get from my e30. Yes, German cars and American cars feel (and used to look) very different. But, they are both great, I enjoy both of them, and I always will. Very well said, M Speed. I'm glad there's at least a few others here who feels the same way as I do.

Your welcome, and there are many other's on this board whom like them all as well. Hell, I can get a kick out of driving my old (I don't have anymore) VW diesel pickup. Man at times that thing was a blast to drive, however it was one gutless motha. I will agree driving around in an option-less Ford Escort is not the best thing to do; you can at time have fun.

There is nothing like launching off a start and (street car) the car starts pulling wheelies. I remember my friend had a 70' GTO RAM AIR that had a racing cam. We were sitting a light when he decides to whiteout the intersection. He begun to power brake that SOB (white smoke totally fills the intersection where not one car could move due to no visuals) and launches that thing. The car began to fish tail. He left 2 black posi-track marks through one green light (still white smoke pouring from the wheel welds and 3 gears) stopping 2 blocks later at a red light. Next thing you know a police officer lights him up. He ask Tom what the hell you think you're doing (all the while Tom denying everything, all the while smoke still floating up and the smell of burn rubber was enormous) and began to give him a ticket for excessive acceleration. Tom starts to argue and told the cop to prove it.... hahahah.... The policeman instructs Tom and myself out of the car and showed him the 2 black (I mean dark dark black) burn out marks that lead right up the car's rear tires. I started laughing my a$$ off. It seems Tom passed a squad car sitting at the first light (the one that was green he was smoking through in 2nd gear) waiting to take a right. Tom just looks at the marks, then the policeman, takes the ticket, and get back in the car and drive off very silently. I was howling. I never let him forget that. Those were some good old day. I have many moments like that I wish I could relive now. Man what fun.

i think its really funny when kids in my school try donuts and fail cause thier car is front wheel drive or thier stpid civic has no power and is basically 1 wheel drive with its open differential there are alot of single black tire marks in our parking lot from a bunch of tools doing it, its really funny at teh end of the year druing finals cause everyone does it, i sit there and bet money on who the first person is gonna be to blow a diff, or bend a valve, or something, its really funny. I laugh with a few other of my friends who just look at them in thier raging stupidity as they tear thier car apart from beating it or getting caught by the cops that are there every day of the school year in the morning and afternoon when everyone gets out yet some people never learn and try to push thier lack of driving skill and lack of a car that can do it to the limit, funniest was when the kid lost it and ended up sliding into a 6" curb and pretty much ripping every major mechanical part out of the car, Trans was on the road leaking every fluid possible, diff was punctured and smelled like..diff, oil pan was ripped off, suspension towers ruined and alot more damage, all i could do was laugh since i watched the moron set him self up for disaster.

true, but my wheels dont spin, my hoosiers smack me across the face and say no everytime, unless its wet out, then of coruse i throw on my ES100's. Also what cracks me up these people have these drag racers but no brakes... they dont go to a track so they obviously do it in a city street yet they have no stopping power. i think the discs on my dads c2s make more bhp then thier engines do. I dont know maybe its just me i like being able to break 100feet after everyone else.

hehe, all the power to ya if you are drag racer. kids at my school think they have fast cars just cause they either have body kits, or there cars are lowered and can go straight fast. a few years ago i gave a large group of kids a lecture (i was more freaking out) about how after market brakes make your car faster.

yayyyyy brakes
