The E36 325i has 192hp and the M3 E36 240hp for the US version. The new M3 E46 has 343hp.
yes 343hp is the euro m3

urs is 192hp

the e46 325 has 184 hp.
its less than a older 325 bc its really a 318>>323>>325
while a e36 is a the top model. 325>>328>>330

also i believe the e36 m3 on the euro was 286hp.

the E36 325 has 189bhp.

the E36 328 has 190bhp

the E46 325 has 184bhp.

no not nessarily wrong.

the early e36 had 189, a huge jump from 168 in the e30.
later though just before the 328 it was 192, im not sure how much the 328 was.

since he got a 95, i guesing its 192,

Ratings

European Horsepower ratings are exactly what the car is producing at the crankshaft. and it should not be changed by the US scale. In this case the hp ratings are;

E36 318i 141hp
E36 325i 192hp
E36 328i 193hp
E36 M3 early models 286hp
E36 M3 Late models 321hp
E36 M3 US spec. 240hp

E46 316i 105hp
E46 318i 118hp
E46 320i 150hp
E46 323i 170hp
E46 325i 192hp
E46 328i 193hp
E46 330i 231hp
E46 M3 Euro/US 343hp

E39 535i 245hp
E39 540i 286hp
E39 M5 Euro/US 400hp

Everybody knows that only the early models we're different like the E36 M3, there you can talk about US spec because the engine has diff. engine managment system and does not have multi throttle intake. All new engines are the same with the same horsepower. So why would you take 10hp from the E46 M3? This numbers are from BMW development files and are 99.9% acurate.

'92 325i has the same horsepower as the '95. The difference is in the Torque they produce, and this is due to VANOS.

Horsepower

Here is another example. E39 M5 has 400hp. The US rating is 394hp.
Short of 6hp.

The E46 M3 has 343hp. US rating is 333hp.
short of 10hp.

The numbers should be identical for the ammount of horsepower each of these cars are producing.

E46 M3 by US specification is loosing 0.0291hp from each European hp.
E39 M5 by US specification is loosing 0.015hp from each European hp.

Does this make sense to you?

Wadula there is no such thing as E46 M3 US/EU versions. There are only minor differences. The engine and the drivetrain is the same.

Yes your M3 redlines at 7900rpm but is producing 343hp. The Speed limitor is the same as for EU. All new high performane cars sold in Europe such as BMW, Mercedes, Audi have limited top speed to 250kmh - 155mph.

Your manual says 333hp because has been converted to US spec. but thats what Im trying to explain here.

When the M3 makes 343hp in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Middle East, why it would make 333 in USA???

Hear ya! I know, not about winning, just kidding!!
Only wish I had the 321hp motor!!
While we're on the subject, does the 2001 M5 require the same oil as the E46 M3(expensive!)
A friend just bought one. The dealer is charging him $110 for an oil change!!

Oil

Well Syntetic oil is the best you can use. Filter is not very expensive. The oil and the filter should be around $50-$60 what I know. and the rest they charge the labor. Is that BMW dealer?

Don't worry about your engine. You only have 16 foot pounds of torque less so its not that bad. You can always change the multi throttle intake and software if you want to spend the money.
