Hey everyone again, just thought I would ask to be sure, I have an 04 330i and am just wondering what is the recommended RPM for gear shifting. I browsed the manual but have come up empty.

Thanks

I LOVE that feeling when you push it to the max, whenever i feel like getting crazy, i'll drop it in first and go for it, and thankx to the bav auto chip, it pulls from 3000 rpm all the way to 6900 rpm. [headbang] Sory, im getting all excited now, bbl, gotta go for a drive [}:)]

I believe 3,000 is the average...personally, I upshift at 2,600 - 3,400 for normal driving. Just shift at whatever "feels" right, according to your mood.

another one for 3k or so.. your car will tell you actually [:D]

i usually try to keep my revs above 2k while crusing and never use the 6th gear, unless i'm doing over 60.. for most city driving, i keep it in 4th, around 2500 range.. keeping a low rev may seems like a good idea to save gas, but if you want to accel, it'll make the engine work harder in the taller gear, thus buring more gas imo.. unless you always downshift to accel..

Normal driving, I shift at 3500 for each gear, so that I'm already in the low end of the powerband, and not 'waiting' to get into the powerband from a low RPM shift.

Spirited driving, 5-6000 RPM, with the occsaional redline hit if I'm really annoyed.

If you're ever shifting and putting yourself at less than 2000RPM after shifting, you're missing the powerband and just acting like an auto, grinding up to speed at a low RPM..

1995 740i

Hi everyone:

I am new to this site and am very interested in what is posted. I own a 1995 740I and want to know if there are any rear speakers in the car other than the 4-1/2 " speakers located in the rear doors? It looks like there should be a set of rear speakers located behind the rear seat headrest , but I have yet to hear or see them. thanks for your help

Just so you know, my auto shifts at around 3000 RPM under normal acceleration. I also just had my tranny reprogrammed at the dealer.

If I get on it a little it will shift in the 3500-5000 range, and at full throttle it goes all the way to redline.

This is in D. In S the shifts are slightly higher. And in M every shift is at redline if you don't bump it.
