Hey Daniel,
I think you should have posted this thread in the e36 section of the site where you could have gotten maximum benifit of your particular model.
Do you want your car to be quick of the mark (bottom end) or would you like it to gain better top end? both ways are expensive and could lead you into more problems than you care for.
For a guy that doesn't have much money have you considered chipping?
Welcome to the board, I also am from Australia (nsw state)

With turbocharging you will have more potential for more power later on. I say turbocharge all the way.

Do you think that the engine will be strong enough or will i have to upgrade the internals i am not looking at a high amount of boost i mainly wont bottom end power

Low boost you may be fine staying with stock internals. I don't know how much the E36 motor can handle. However I would think anything lower than 8psi would be fine.

It depends on the turbo kit, exhaust system as well as tuning. You can expect anywhere from 40 to 60hp increase.

On my Ford Focus, I'm running 11psi and gained 100whp. I also have a FMIC which helps with the cooling.

I would worry about getting a good kit rather than buying because it's in Australia. Poor weldings and design can lead to you wasting a lot of money. AA Tuning (Active Autowerke) is probably one of the best in the market.
