TST or no TST

I was hoping to get everyone's opinion on the legitamacy of the TST coating. I purchased an X3 (my first BMW) in March and decided to get the teflon coating because it sounded like a great deal for an amazing product. However, since then I have interned at a BMW dealership where the salesmen told me the TST is largely overpriced and a waste of money.

Currently, I just purchased a new X5 4.4 on a 36 month lease. I'm picking it up on Tuesday and am contemplating whether or not to get the TST on the X5.

Is it a good deal and is it really that effective at keeping a car shine? Do you think that it's needed on a car that I will have for only 3 years?

Thanks

If you are only keeping the car for 3 year, it's definitely a waste of money. I don't know much about the teflon coating, but with very little maintenence you can keep a car's finish looking excellent without any extra "coating".

Doesn't teflon only stick to a surface specifically prepared for it? Like the same reason those "teflon" waxes/tire shines aren't really teflon.
