To buy, or not to buy

There's a '94 318i that we looked at as a second car for wife/new driver car for son. 205k miles, and some cosmetics, but otherwise looks good. Convertible, good tires, runs ok. In looking at other postings here it seems like I can expect it to be ok for tooling around town and maybe last another 100k or more. Any feedback on electrical/mechanicals that we can expect? I'm having it checked by an independent mechanic. It's priced right at Kelly Private Party Blue Book and checks clean on Carfax. thanks!

Welcome, it sounds like you've done your homework on this one. If all is as you say, and the mechanic gives her a clean bill of health you should be fine.

i agree with big daddy, you've done pretty much everything you can do to check up on it, and as long as that mechanic says its good to go then go for it

there is a list around here somewhere that has a bunch of commen problems you could possibly check up on, some of them may have already been fixed, others you may have to fix in the future
