Sport Drive 325i

Got a 2003 325i (steptronic)last october. I recently noticed when driving in sport mode (M/S, not shifting) that the engine backfires when I come to a hard stop. Once before the engine actually stared knocking.

I took it back to BMW but they found that the problem hadn't persisted. Now it is backfiring. I will take it back to them. Anyone else experienced this?

What gas do you use?

BP Amoco 93 octane only. The car is at BMW now. I'm hoping they find whatever it is so that it can be fixed. They did seem very surprised at my complaint.

If they can't figure it out, try switching gas companies.
