Slack in the steering

I have about a half inch of play in the steering wheel, in my 2001 M3. The dealer told me that it was normal, yeah right.. so does anyone know how to solve this problem.

Of course. There is not suppose to be any play.

You have to get it fixed no matter what. It might be a bad steering rack.

Even my '87 325 with 260,000 miles on it has absolutely no slop in the steering. You M3 definitely shouldn't! Make 'em fix it.
