Shark Fin? I think they look great? Can someone tell me if they are standard in all 04's that have bmw assist.

My 325 is on order and just wondering if it will have the shark fin

What purpose does that fin serve? I have also seen it on Mercedes and saw a Honda with one. I was just curious.

Some confusion on the fin. Its def part of the Antenna but not sure if its for BMW assist, Radio, or phone. I read that it is now standard on all 04's with bmw assist.

the radio antenna should still be imprinted on the rear glass. The Shark fin is prolly where they stick the assist or antenna. Prolly both since they're related.

It is the BMW Assist antenna. That is what it is for on my 2004. There are some cars going around with fake ones also that are available aftermarket.

I ordered a 2004 M3 but think the fin looks terrible. It comes with the premium package which includes BMW assist. I ordered the moonroof and seats seperate instead of the premium package so it shouldn't have the fin.

Many new cars are switching to a shark fin antenna to house different technologies under one housing.

Aside from cellular signals (like BMW Assist), these things also can support optional things like navigation and satellite radio (hence the wide base of the unit). Now if only BMW can get both of these to play nicely!

That's also why you see them on other cars like Honda, etc. More and more cars are coming from the factory with these gadgets.

No BMW Assist means no shark fin. Mine hasn't got one either.

I dig it....less hassle at the car wash. Kinda gives it a sporty look in cheap exotrensic sort of way.
