Not sure what car to get...

Im looking for a car of some kind... Most likeley a BMW... but Im not sure what type. I am a true car enthusiast and want something fun to drive. I am low on cash... but I am not going to buy some bucket. I love the e30 body style.. Or at least thats what I think it is.. a 3 series around 88-91?

My budgets around 5k... I would like to spend less and still have cash for mods but if I need to spend 5k I will.

I want something that will handle and accelerate well..

My last car was a 1995 mitsubishi eclipse FWD turbo. I had it running 15PSI of boost (10-11psi) with intake and exhaust.. ran a high 14 in the quarter.
I would like something that had some decent power like my eclipse did... and something with lots of modding potential and more class than the eclipse.

Are any years of the e30 better than others?

Whats the difference between a 325i and a 325e.. what other kinds of 3 series are there?

Whats the biggest/ most powerful engine I can get in an e30?

Also anyone know the stock horspower/torque on a 325i?

First welcome to the board! The e30 was produced from 1983 - 1991. Here is a link to a good source on BMW designations, etc. John G Burns

Click on the e30 link for the answers to most of your questions. The most powerful e30 engine would be the e3- M3 Evolution S14. These are very pricey to rebuild and getting hard to find. Best of luck with your search.

If you buy a e30, my opinion would to be to swap out the engine with an m50 or if you wanna get crazy a s50 or s52...you can get a m50 pretty cheap now from what ive heard
