Just bought a used E46 ('99 323i). Gotta say that I've never driven anyting quite so nice, except for the '04 I tried from the dealership.

Anyway, I burned out a front RH turn signal and need to replace the bulb. Simple enough I thought.

The manual show inserting a screwdriver into an access hole above the light (nder the hood) - and although I can see the access hole, there is absolutely nothing in the hole to turn, just a flat black plastic piece.

The manual says to use the screwdriver to 'release the hook' but like I said - there's nothing there but flat platstic.

What on earth am I not seeing??

All help greatly appreciated, and thanks for you're patience.

That is the correct hole to place the screwdriver in however, you don't "turn" the screwdriver. There is nothing to unscrew. What you need to do is push straight down on the plastic tab and it will release the turn light assembly and allow you to replace the bulb. Kind of hard to explain, but hope it helps.

BTW, welcome to the board and post pics when you can.....

Thanks for your help.... I found the tab to push down on - I didnt realize that it was so far back of the access hole.

Anyway, bulb is replaced and all is well.

Once again, I appreciate the feedback.... Oh, and I'm sure I'll be bugging you again!!

Happy motoring... Bailey

Hehe, I wish I did know everything. Bid D. is the one with a lot of great info. That is why he is Big Daddy… [pray] [headbang] [rofl]

That is what is great about this board. With all the members we have here the knowledge database is quite large and the fact that almost everyone here love to help out instead of flaming....

Good job on getting light replaced. I think almost everyone who has purchased an E46 and has needed to change out the turn signals have had the same problem at first. Post anymore questions you may have and I am sure there will be one of our members that can help or give some great advise.

Remember to post pics when you can....
