Hey all,

I've been intermittently lurking for a while and decided it's time to jump in with a few questions.

1) My son's '92 has (I'm pretty sure) the flex disk/guibo going out. From what I've read on here, in lower speeds, drivetrain shakes like hell but smooths out at speed (rotation stabilizes the shaft). Anyway, what I need to know is twofold:
a) Should I just get the OEM replacement for this model or is there a better part out there?
b) Where's the best (er, cheapest) place to buy these parts (OEM and aftermarket)?

2) On my motorcycles, when there is an intake leak (vacuum leak) or the carbs are way out of sync, the idle 'hangs' after backing off the gas (like when shifting). I've never driven a beamer before this one, is this a 'normal' thing with BMW's? It takes forever to shift, waiting for the R's to come down.

Thanks in advance for the help! [cheers]

Brent

edit - Mods, I just noticed a newb section - please feel free to move this, if necessary. Thanks again!

Moved per your request! Welcome to the board!

I would just replace the disc with a stock one. You can get them from Arizona AutoHaus one of our sponsors located in the "MarketPlace" section of this site. I would consider replacing the center support bearing at the same time.

Yes vacuum leaks on the Beamers and the Bimmers will cause the rpm's not to drop as fast. Find that leak and get her fixed.
