Hello all. This looks like a great source of information. Glad to be here.

I've been in the market for a BMW for a while to use as my driving to and from work car. It's all highway miles to and from work. I've looked at BMWs from 1999-2004 varying in mileage from 30K to 100K with and without options. Today I think I found my vehicle but would like to hear what you experts have to say.

I found a 2001 330I that has 86K miles on it. It's alpine white with the beige interior. The exterior is in immaculate shape with one small, almost invisible, blemish on the trunk lid. The interior is in just as good a shape with one minor scratch on the passenger door wood trim and one or two small smudges in the lining. It has the sport package with full power seats, sunroof, zenon lights, fog lamps, cruise control, automatic climate control, wood trim, CD, and air bags.

Of all the cars I've looked at this one has impressed me the most. It handles beautifully and accelerates/decelerates/shifts with no issues that I can tell. Everything works in the vehicle.

I drove newer 325s that weren't as nice.

I had my father-in-law (whose judgement I respect) inspect the vehicle. He's an ex-insurance inspector so knows where to look for the signs of work, damage, wear, etc. He couldn't find anything wrong with it.

The asking price is $15,000. That is about $4K under the blue book.

Was wondering what you guys/gals thought of this car as my first BMW. I can post pictures tomorrow if you want.

Thanks.

Sounds reasonable. Expect the usual BMW maintenance items coming up at 100K - 120K: new radiator (plastic radiator neck tends to crack), water pump, struts/shocks/shock mounts.

Last of the pictures

Here are five more pics.

Big Daddy-right you are. I looked at several colors before finally seeing this beauty in the alpine white. As you say, it should help down here in Florida for those hot summer days.

VERY nice!!!

I would take it to a local BMW dealer and have a "presale inspection" done. It will cost you $150 or so. The dealer will go over the car and list everything that might be wrong with it. About the only thing they don't do is a detailed engine study (compression, etc.). I have done this, I think it's worth the $$$.

Also, run a carfax for $20.

If it all comes up clean, buy it!!

Both have been done and it's clean. It's also mine tomorrow.
