i'm new here and this is my first post. i've been reading a lots but don't find anything to answer my question.

i bought BMW 1994 325is that come with Michelin 225/55 R 15 but 2 of them were worn out and a mechanic changed all 4 tires for me to Yokohama 205/60 R 15. So, I keep the other 2 Michelin tires in my garage.

Now, I'd like to know if I can put the wider tires like mixed 2 of 205/60 with 2 of 225/55? What would make the different? Does it gonna cause any problems or does it give any benefit? The Michelin tires are far more expensive and I don't want to leave it unused.

Thank you for all the help.

The wider tires should be put on the rear. It might cause some understeer if you push the car really hard (car will tend to go straight instead of turning). But the other way around is much more dangerous. Wide tires up front will cause oversteer - the car will be very steering sensitive, and could spin out when pushed hard. Most cars are intentionally designed to have slight understeer just for this reason.

If I were you, I would keep the four Yokohama tires on your car. I believe your car will be more balanced that way. I agree with Kirby that if you really want to use the wider tires, then you should put them on the rear.
