Just Bought 97 328i conv from auction

I just bought a 97 328i at auction...needs some work but can anyone explain what code is required to activate the radio...and is there a way to manually fold down the top...since power top does not seem to work?

Can't help you with the top but to get the radio code you will need the serial code from the rear of the radio, your vin number, copy of lisence, copy of registration and a helpfull dealership to give you the code for free. As far as I remember, I used Bill Jacobs BMW in Chicago, just faxed them all the info (called first of course) and the tech called me back with the code. It did require some persuading skill, since they don't like to do it for free and a not so local dealer wanted to charge $121 for it.

If it's anything like my E30, there's a special tool (that fits in a hole in the trunk) that lets you manually crank the top up and down.
