go to your local wal-mart, really good rubber floor mats, i have them in and all you have to do is gut a notch out for your gas but other than that they are really good. about once a month polish them with some armor all and a towel, or i heard you could use shoe polish...never tried that though.....

i got the bmw rubber floormats, and have been pretty good for me so far.

the only complaint is the rubbery smell associated with in the beginning, but what do you expect right? also on the passenger side, the anchor velcro got ripped off the base when i tried to readjust the floormats. (the glue end, velcro locked in perfectly

as for the bmw wheel locks, they seemed really generic, gearbox like key, which seemed the same no matter what wheel lock box you got. (other manufacs have their own special key per wheel lock set..) still, what do you expect for $20 and change eh?

Wheel Locks

Lets be realist about wheel locks. All they are are an odd shaped nut that needs a special "key/attachemnt" to get them off. Do you really that someone who steals wheels has not got one of these attachments? Save your money. Reduce the deductable on your insurance incase the wheels are stolen.

Just my opinion!

Mostly true, however it's more than just a wierd design grinded into the top of the bolt so that you need the 'key' to open it. The shape of the nut matters (Many aftermarket ones are pentagon shaped, so that you don't even NEED the key, a simple jack wrench will get it off). Make sure when you get wheel locks they are ROUND, so that you MUST have the patterned key to open them.

And the patterns can be very different, it's not 'one size fits all' by far. You'd have to have an assortment of wheel locks for all the brands out there if that was your wheel stealing 'game'.

Floormats--Weathertech makes great ones in black, grey, and tan. I have seen them on several online sites. Deep channels and heavy rubber. About $50 for the front ones, which is all I needed.

I just took delivery on two sets of wheel lock lugs from Bavarian Auto. The design is round, but with four concave notches around the perimeter. The notches have different offsets on each set.

I don't want to tip off any would-be theives lurking on this forum, but it seems to me that you might be able to grip these lugs using one of those universal sockets. I hope that's not true, but I'm thinking about buying a universal socket just to confirm it *won't* work on these lugs.

Funny you should ask. I just my ZHP 2 weeks ago. The parts store is closed on Sat. so I picked up the winter mats and a set of wheel locks yesterday. Strange, I thought it would look a lug nut with unique pattern which would deter a would be thief. They all look the same, so the thief would not find out until he come across the wheel lock if you use the plastic lock cover. The winter mats look like the "Weather Tech" you see in the car mags, yes deep channels. The originals were getting dirty mad fast.

I just picked up oem wheel locks from the dealer. I am not going to worry about it, becuase if someone is going to take them they will find a way to take em

As for the floor mats, i checked the dealer and i didnt really want to spend $50 on just the front floor mats. My last car was a vw passat and they had better all weather mats, the bmw mats look cheap to me. does anyone have the ones from bavarian. they are set of four rubber mats for around $50? I feel that the carpet ones will just wear a lot faster than the carpet ones

The carpet ones will also smell really bad if you spill something on them. My car leaks somewhere and water gets to the rear mats, one of them had something spilled on it and the car used to stink like you wouldn't believe.

I replace the originals - they were really cheap. I will leave the winter ones in yr round. I asked the dealer on delivery day for those mats and he threw in the set of 4. So it does not hurt to ask. I get a $50 gift cert too. I used it to buy the wheel locks ( $31 ) + a set of mini cooper magnets.
