Question ??

I have a 2002 Z3 and would like to fatten up the back end.
Specifically, put larger wheels, tires and so on....
I would like to maintain Beemer parts.
Any suggestions ???

NOTE: Currently have stock factory wheels.

Thanks,

The staggered 17 inch wheel setup that comes with some Z3s looks great from the rear over the base 16 inch wheels. Tire sizes are 225/45-17 in the front and 245/40-17 in the rear. This package is the same width at the rear as the Z3 M coupe and roadster. Look at Big Daddy's icon to see how great this looks from behind. You could risk rubbing and go with staggered 18s (over 9 inches wide in the back), but the oversized wheels might be a bit tough to handle on anything but smooth surfaces.

I've seen some lowered z3's that look great from behind. Dropping it down an inch really makes it look much much wider but make sure you get a camber kit to adjust for the effect on t he suspension geometry.

My rears are 255/40-17's and the rear M roadster wheels are 9.5 wide. If you have a six cylinder I believe you can use these sizes and even bigger with no modifications. My 97 2.8 had 245/40-17's in the rear from the factory. My current 98 M roadster has Dinan suspension and is about 3/4 to 1 inch lower than stock.

Here is a link to a close up from the rear of my car.

Hey Big Daddy- are the 255/40-17's in the rear the stock size? Everything I can find on the M-Coupe and Z3 with the 17 inch wheel package seems to say that they should be 245/40, but when I recently bought some new tires (pictures to follow) the rears look a little small compared to the fronts, making me think I should have gone with the 255s in the rear. Thoughts on this?

245's are stock, I went to 255's and may try 275's next time. I do not have to deal with DSC or ASC on my 98 M as they did not have it. When I tried to go to larger tires on the 97 I had the computer did not like it and when I cornered the DSC would take effect.

Big D's rear end is sick looking too. I've seen it in person too. [rofl] [;)]

No really, the rear of the roadster is mean looking. I am going with 275/273's on the M for my next set maybe.....
