I was checking out a 330ci, and it had the same number of window switches as a 330i, does each side have control of the other sides windows?
I love being able to open both windows with one fellow move.. is that possible?

? Coupes have 4 window controls on the center console? Wow I must be blind to never notice that. Are you serious, or did you just see the top 2, left and right of the shift knob? The only window controls in the car are down the center (but this is changing in the new BMW's). What model are you looking at?

There's no 1-button way to open/close all windows (unless you're outside your car, and use the remote to roll them down), however they are 1-touch down and up, so you can stroll across the buttons tapping each one once, then move to the next to operate the windows. I generally get all 4 going pretty quickly, they all close about the same time from me just giving each a push/pull.

Hope that helps, and greetings fellow Atlantian! [:D] Where are you shopping??

Coupes have 4 buttons, but they don't do the same thing as the sedan buttons.

The top two buttons control the front side windows that are on the doors. They are 1-touch up AND down.

The bottom two buttons control those little quarter windows in the back that are next to the door windows. They just open out a bit to vent in some air. They are 1-touch open, but you have to hold them down to close the windows.

There's no 1 button that opens up everything, or even the other side. It's each button to its individual window.

one of my fav feats on the coupe was the rear window venting btns. i know they are everywhere on the minivans, but you never see it on a coupe. so nice of bmw to retain the oldschool venting system with touch of new. such a neat feature, esp on a hot summer day, vent that and vent the sunroof, and your car should be much cooler!

I really wish the E30's and E36 coupes had power rear windows, caravan's and ford minivan's have had them since forever! Why not BMW!! Its crazy, and its a pain in the butt to open them.... part of the reason I wouldn't mind a sedan.

Acutally you have it turned around. It is on touch (push down) open, but you have to hold them UP to close the windows.....

Eric, minivans didn't get the power ones until later in their incarnation. i think around 96 or so? when teh caravan became a slick looking, car like handling minivans, from the boxy look that resurrected the company back in the day. so that falls in line w/ tech line for the e46. i'm sure if bmw made it automatic on a e36 during the cycle, many o early e36 drivers would've been pissed. Old LX450s had the sliding kind, but LX470 got the switch controlled version back around late 90s.

those manual vents are a classic. my dad's old 80 Cavalier had them and i thought it was such a cool thing to have. also a PITA to close in the rain storm ^^

You're prolly right. I just push and pull on the button until the window goes in the direction I want.

nope my parents old 1989 plymouth voyager had power venting rear windows (2 buttons on the front ceiling). i drove it back in the day. Those windows made the van tolorable.

and thier older 1984 or something earlier style minivan had crank rear window vents... friggin hilarious contraption. There were 2 knobs on the front ceiling that you would twist and it would crank open the windows all the way in the back.

Yeah, I refer to those vents as "mini-van windows". The ML and other various SUV's have it and it's nice there, but BMW needs to be able to do this on their new cars:

As you can see, both side windows on that car are down, which is really cool. Mercedes first introduced this on their new CL class and the new CLK Coupes have it, too. I was surprised BMW did not do this for their 645Ci Coupe, I think this, in combination with a Panoramic sunroof, creates a really nice summer driving experience!

Even Ford's new F150 SuperCab windows roll all the way down instead of venting. Them BMW coupes would look stunning with both windows down. I like the way the CL looks above.
