Estimated Production date....

Hey guys~

I've been checking up the status of my X3, both online and via phone. Well, the estimated production date for me is the 13th week (around March 22). I placed an order on Feb...11th or something. The BMW NA representative told me that the date's tentative and may change.

Did your cars go production on the date they had for estimated production? Did it start production earlier, on time, or later?? I have to get my car by..early-mid May at the latest...do you think it'll arrive by then? The guy on the phone told me that the car would arrive roughly 3 months after today (I called yesterday, 3/2) at the 'latest'.......... [:(]

How longer did you guys wait after it's gone to production? I heard that it takes about a week to build, then another 16-20 days for shipping.......

Thanks in advance [rofl] [thumb]

Hey heyloo. Mine went into production on Feb 8th, as promised. It arrived in the US on March 2nd. I ordered on Feb 3rd, but the dealer told me that they had one going into production and that was the final of their alotment. Supposedly, the next orders for 5-series would have been 3 months later[unsure]. Now I've been trying to get in touch with my salesman and he's nowhere to be found. Maybe he died! Who knows?

Hey usherjackson, thanks for the reply.
My car went on production on the morning of March 4th!!! It was estimated to go on production on March 22, but I guess not! [thumb] I'm so excited!!

I'm in Pennsylvania...so I'm estimating that my car to arrive in New York port between March 20-30 and delivery either the first or second week of April. Do you know how long it takes at the prep center?

Hey, that's cool. The sooner the better. I spoke to the general manager at my dealer on Friday, and they told me that it could take up to 20 days. Seems awfuly long to me, but that's what he said. I'm hoping it's about 14 days quicker than that. And so far, my online tracking has been dead-on through bmwusa.com's owner's circle. At one point I thought it was not being updated, but at least for me, it's been exact. Two days after the ship FREEDOM hit the US, my car was "At Preparation Center".

Hey, usherjackson, we were on the same ship. But my owner's circle hasn't updated. It still says en-route to the processing center. The statuses on the Owners' Circle have been up to date for me as well until now. It would usually be 1 day behind the 1-800 number status. Good luck and be sure and post when your arrives at the dealer.

my car landed at Charleston SC on Feb. 14th and I picked it up here in New Orleans on Feb 26th. Car actually arrived at dealership Feb 22nd, but Mardi Gras down here, they were closed, hence the pick up on Feb 26. Even after the shipping company website showed as landed, both OC and 1-800 # showed in transit for several days, but as you can see from the dates, it was only 8 days from landing to arriving at dealership.

Thanks for the info. I kind of think my car has cleared the VPC and is en-route to my dealership because the 1-800 at first was saying (this was 2 days after the ship arrived in port) my car was at the port awaiting a shipping vessel but it now says my car is en-route. My car arrived in Charleston last Tuesday (March 2nd) so I'm hoping to have it by this weekend.

To give you an idea of my BMW reality: I ordered it Jan 26th with a Feb. 7th build date. It was built in Munich and today March 18th I will be picking it up at the dealer. The initially told me I'd have it the last week of Feb. They guessed wrong!

!4th week

1-800 rep said my order was for the 14th week as well but went into production 3/23 with a completion date of 03/31. Any luck maybe last week of April but probably May.

Have you checked 1-800-831-1117 recently? (the auto response line)

I picked mine up exactly 4 weeks after it's completion date. Hope you get yours faster. Mine did sit at the dock in Germany for a week and a half. Once it actually left port, it was 2 weeks. Dealer told me it could be 20 days after landing in the US, but it was 5 days only.

Both the owners circle and the phone status don't seem that accurate to me. The phone status went from enroute to awaiting shipping when it was already in New York. The web site says it's at the prep center. My saleman called me and it arrived at the dealership last Saturday. They only thing that seemed accurate was the cargo tracking of the boat.

Oh well, it's here now I have to find the time to pick it up!

On shedule

My car is on on schedule according to both the OC and the 1-800. It was completed exactly as posted, now "awaiting transport" ---- What I read from others it could be sitting in port anywhere from 1-10 days waiting to be loaded.

This wait is killing me!

My experience - so far

03/05 - Ordered
03/10 - Scheduled for production with no confirmed production date
03/21 - Vehicle in production, estimated completion date 03/31.
Owners Circle still says “On Order”
03/24 - OC now says “In Production” Vin # issued
03/27 - “Vehicle in Body shop, estimated completion date 03/31”
03/28 - “Vehicle in Paint Shop, estimated completion date 03/31”
03/31 - “Vehicle being transported to the port of exit”
OC says “In Production”
04/01 - OC says “Awaiting Transport”
04/02 - “Vehicle at port waiting for a shipping vessel”
04/06 - OC, 1-800, and !-800 Rep, say car at “port awaiting vessel”
W&W Shipping say auto was loaded and shipped on 04/02
04/07 - “1-800 states in transit”, OC still says “Awaiting Transit”

Just tells you how people want their cars customized to their own liking. ;) I ordered my car as well. It was well worth the two-month wait. [thumb]
