Hi,

I just bought a 2006 X5. I had to order the vehicle because I am in Germany. There are not many u.s. specs on the lots here because they are built in S.C. Can anyone tell me the difference between status gray and sterling grey? I have only seen these 2 colors in the catalog.

Stratus is deeper, from the sunlight (on a 6 series), it looks kind of bronzish almost blue, and sterling is lighter but browner.

I will tell you, you have to see them in full sun, there is a huge difference in colors when they are parked in a garage and parked outside.

Yeah, listen to Matthew [drinking] Stratus Gray is very funky in person. When I saw it on the 650i I drove 3 weeks ago, at first I thought it was an awesome metallic gray. As I got closer, it started turning really brown, with odd hints of turquoise and green, while kinda looking bronze. It is just an odd combination!

I personally think Sterling Gray is much, much nicer. It is classic, and is much better for resale or trade-in value.

Thanks

Thanks to all of you. That answered my question. Now I am glad I went with the Sterling Grey instead of the stratus grey.
