Before I ask a lot of naive questions about how to properly care for my BMW, can some long-time member of the board direct me to a thread that already has information like this? Thanks in advance!

Welcome and thanks for stopping by!

There is a thread here that has some excellent tips on it. The PDF file posted by Vlad is there but if I just click on it, it eventually says the file is corrupt. BUT if you right click and do a "save as" to save it locally, I can open it after it's on my drive. Go figure.....

Just my two cents worth to keep it showroom (with a bit of labor):
1. Never use an automatic car wash that touches the car.
2. Touchless car washes are OK as long as you don't have a convertible.
3. Follow Vlad's recommendation for TWO hand wash buckets - a wash bucket and a rinse bucket. Get the dirt out of your wash rag/sponge before soaping up again.

Wax? I use Meguiar's Gold three 3 step. But this is always a great topic of debate - which wax is best????

The link above doesn't work. [:(]
I downloaded the PDF--thanks! I am using the "two bucket" approach when I wash, and I went high-dollar on the car wax: Pinnacle Souveran, since the car is black.
But how about the interior--like the roof. That's fabric not leather (got leather cleaner for the rest of the interior), and there's a black smudge I'd like to remove.
Doh question: the dash is NOT leather, correct? My steering wheel and stick are, but the dash is a different texture entirely. What to use there?

Also: the [chair] brake dust. Is there any product that prevents or at least limits it from adhering? I drive the car two or three times and the rims are cruddy.

Thanks!
