Hey everybody

I have a couple of questions. I am looking to get a bimmer and saw a demo automatic 325 i with a sunroof and heated seats. Dealer is asking for approx $ 40k Cdn. Feel its a bit high, am I correct?

Secondly it seems BMW's dont come with factory installed alarms. Is that true? Can they be fitted at the dealership? If not what are the alternatives and how much does a good alarm go for. I cant imagine owning a Bimmer without an alarm! I dont get why BMW dont pre install them like Audi and others do

Any feedback on the questions is appreciated

Thanks

Yes, alarms are not standard features. I got mine for about $300 US dollars installed and programmed. Your dealership can install it for you. Ask for $38300 Can Dollars on the 325i. Its a programm vehicle so it must have some miles on it.

Guys, remember that the $40,000 is in Canadian. The equivalent in US is approximately $30,172 or so. Still seems a bit high for a demo car to me. They always claim these cars are taken care of meticulously, but I've seen how some people drive the loaners. They'd have to drop it more for me to consider it, especially when a new and unabused one is not much more.

BMW's don't come with alarms standard. Not the 3 series for sure. Just remember that if you get the BMW alarm, it doesn't come with a shock sensor. That's always bothered me. I like how it integrates with the key, but the lack of shock sensor worries me cuz I'm concerned about vandals, not people who'd actually steal the whole car. Course, you can just splice in a shock sensor (DEI makes one for about $25) and that solves the problem.

Thanks Guys

I am now leaning towards leasing it the demo for 3 years- it would include all scheduled maintenance and the warranty is 6 years. It should survive until then!! It has 7200km on it. In Canada you pay all kinds of crazy taxes to get it delivered. You guys in the US are lucky to be in low tax land.

I shall try and get it reduced to $ 38,500 Cdn.

They offer free maintenance and a warranty for the entire lease period on all cars. Just remember if the DEMO turns out to be a Lemon POS you're stuck with it for the entire contract period, and BMWNA doesn't care.

Was this DEMO the first car they tried to sell you, I never go for that. When I walked into the dealer looking for a 330i the first thing they tried to sell me was "their last 2003 model" for $37.5k a joke considering for about 1k more I got an 04 model with everything I desired and that car only had the premium package, sometimes it's ok to say no.
