BMW exhaust options?

Hey,

I have been seeing a bunch of aftermarket cat-back for (in upwards of) $900! This is INSANE! Has anyone just gone to an exhaust shop and has them design a custom system using normal mufflers and say 2 inch tubing?

The reason I ask is when it comes time to replace the exhause on a BMW I may purchase I don't want to spend nearly a grand doing it. There HAS to be a better and easier way!

yeah i also looked around at exhausts and they seemed really spendy. you and I should throw a new one on my car this summer john!
