Hello all,

Hope this is not too mundane a question. If so, advance apologies (forewarned is forearmed [hihi] )

We are about to be proud owners of our first Bimmer soon. But, wife and I realize we may need some help here.

Here is the situation - Currently I am driving a 2001 Acura MDX SUV that I want to downsize and are considering only a bimmer (328 or 528) We (family of 4, including 2 boys 10 & 6 years) have driven both the 328i and the 528i and surprise, surprise, like them both. Felt that the 328 drives a bit tighter, gets good mileage whereas 528 is more luxurious and roomy for a $10K premium. Although the 328's rear seat appears to be comfortable enough for the kids right now, we are wondering if the room will become a big concern soon enough that we should consider only a 5 series. I would like to think that some in the forum may have gone through this situation before.

What do you advice? I hope the question is not too vague. Your opinions will be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Raj considring the ages of the boys I would get the 5er. As they get older they are not going to like the cramped back seat of a 3. We had a 3 and went to a 7 and got spolied! Welcome and good luck.

I must agree. the 5 series is much more roomier. I own a 3 series, and I am not tall or anything, but when somebody sits in the back, they choose the passenger side, since my seat goes far back. Even though for me it has enough room, it would be a bit tight for others. Another disadvantage is the trunk size. If you were to do grocery shopping, you cant fit too much in the 3 series. As the gas goes, you will not be saving too much with the 3 series.
