The wife and I looked at a 318 tonight that can be bought real cheap.
No rust just needs struts and ball joints as best I can tell.
158,000 miles and seemed real strong. 5 speed.
Are the motors pretty good for going high milage?
Oh, its a 91.
Whats a good source for parts?
I might want to go with koni reds for the struts.
Thanks,
Robert

The M42 is a great engine. I had one in a 91 318is that had over 160k on her when I sold her. never had any major service. If treated right they can break the 250k mark. Very popular cars and easy to upgrade and tune.

By the way Welcome to the board!

Here's an update on the Beamer.
Its a great running car and the wife sure likes it.
I put new ball joints on it, bushings, and new tires.
About $500 worth. Buffed it out a little since the
prior owner had let it slide. Bought a code reader and reset
the engine lights. It gets 31mph and sure is a good
winter car. This all started because the lancia beta
was taking a while to come together. looks like the wife
may like this better than the Lancia.
I was told by the service department at the local bmw dealer that
these cars had million mile motors and they rarely had one come in
except for a new radiator hose :)
We'll see! Thanks for the input before we bought it.
