Whoever will give you the best deal. I use carsdirect.com as a baseline. Dealer has to beat that price. You can also see what Costco and AAA have as their prices.

Traditionally, these dealers are known for good prices:

Nick Alexander in LA
New Century in Alhambra
Crevier in Santa Ana

Err, the rest can be hit or miss. If you want pricy, Shelly in Buena Park and Santa Monica BMW have that rep.

Stay away from Savage BMW in Ontario (my personal opinion).

Play the dealers off of each other. There are so many, it's easy to do.

im tryin to decide whether to tell my dad to get the Volvo XC90 or the BMW X5 4.4i. i know this is the BMW forums so everyones gonna say X5...but i can get a hookup on an XC90 fully loaded for $50k + TT&L (original $56k + TT&L) whereas the X5 is around $60k + TT&L

basically we would get the BMW if we could get a small hookup but i need to find a reputable dealer that can do that.

Whatcha mean by hookup? What's the difference btw the price you've seen versus what carsdirect.com spits out?

Yeah, pretty much everyone here will say get the X5. I know the XC90 has a good resale and all, but it's ugly and doesn't do anything (for you lurkers, it doesn't snow and barely rains around here... SUVs are merely inefficient status mobiles here... and no, no one would tow with one of these cars). Great car to tool around in, but not fun. it may be cheaper, but it doesn't have as much status and should be a hell of a lot slower. Dunno if that's important to your dad or not. My parents wouldn't care so they wouldn't pay the premium for the BMW.

Well my dad would prefer the BMW, but if its $10k less for the same (to him) car, he'll go for the Volvo you know? And like you said, here in SoCal its all about status, so I'd rather see him rolling in an X5...

By hookup I mean the best price they can give me. A guy over at another forum I'm on works at a nearby Volvo dealer and is going to get me $7k off MSRP.

We bought both our X5 4.4i and 4.8is from Century West BMW in Universal City (along with our various other BMWs [;)] .

Ask for Bill Bigelow. He is probably one of the nicest, most honest guys.

Good Luck!
Were you by chance at the Crystal Cove meet during the last Saturday of November with your Z8 Alpina?

Thats also the same dealer my friend bought his 545i I believe, I'll check it out!
