Hi. [wave]
I'm a new member, who now has a 02 Acura TL-S, but planning to step up to get a 3-series BMW. I kinda wanted to study a bit about bmw before purchasing one.
I remember my uncle, who has a body shop told me that all used bmw's are good except for 328. Does anyone know any bad things about 328 compare to other 3-series?
anyways, I hope to share lots of info here.

Welcome aboard, you should be very happy with the 328. Good amount of torque and aftermarket accessories.

Another option is getting the 330, here is the breakdown of HP output.

325i HP=184
328i HP=193
330i HP=225

not really. The main considerations are the horsepower you want/require, and your preferred choice of transmission. Some models give better bang for your buck, but there aren't really any newer models that you should avoid.

My response is based on what I have heard in the BMW community as I do not work in the automotive industry, however, I expect that any horror stories would have filtered down to me by now.

It is really on a car-by-car basis i.e. check out the individual car - if it looks to be good and you like it, then sweet!

You also got to remember that BMW has magical horsepower, by this I mean, even though the 330i has 225hp, it will pull to 60 in 6.4 seconds, and it will out handle A lot of cars out there.
The E46 3 series was a very successful run, you can expect some teeny annoying problems but other than that it is a great reailable car. Look around in the E46 forum and see what kind of problems people post so you get a sense of what you can expect..

Cool.
Thanks for your inputs, guys..
I was thinking about 3 series, but I found this 02 525i 5-spd with 54,000 miles for $20,500.
Good deal or bad deal?
