I don't own a BMW yet, but I'm definitely going to replace My Porsche Cayenne Turbo with a 650i. I'm having trouble deciding about the Active Steering option. Most , but not all, reviews have been positive. It sounds good in principle. I've driven a 650i and a 550i for short test drives but I have not driven either car without the Active Steering. No question the steering is very quick at low speeds. At highway speeds, the cars tracked well, handled easily and were very stable. Lane changes and highway exits were smooth. The only problem I had was when I did a quick 90 degree turn out of the dealer's lot. When trying to bring the wheel back to center after completing the turn, I had a slight wiggle trying to find center. This is when the steering felt too loose and light. It allows easy turns in parking lots but I'm afraid that aggressive slow to moderate speed driving may be compromised and I will lose a good feel of the road. Does anybody have any inputs on the Active Drive?

Its great if you know how to drive, if you don't it isn't worth the money you really will only know the difference if you are really in tune with driving, the track is really the silver lining though better handling at higher speeds and tight bends. As for day-to-day driving with someone who doesn't understand its purpose will simply be annoyed by it.

For you coming from a Porsche Cayenne Turbo I'd take it.
