Hey everyone, i am a TOTAL car/bmw noobie. I really wasn't too interested in cars until recently and i'm trying to get into it.

Basically i'm trying to decide whether or not its worth it to put a turbo on a 95 525i, and if i can.

If i can, i have NO clue what the engine model is, and i unfortunately have no access to the manual right now.

Secondly, is it worth it? It has 120000 miles on it already, but is in pretty good shape. I really like this car, and it drives really nice [:)].

I have no clue where to look, where to go, or what to do, can yall help out a little noobie like myself? :D

Thanks!

First of, congrats on the car. I've always loved the 5 series. The engine you have is a L6, 2.5 litre gas combustion engine. The engine in your car is the same as the 325i of the corresponding years. I'm pretty sure that you could put a turbo on it, but I (personally) do not think it's a good idea to put one on an engine with such high mileage, unless you are doing a complete rebuild. If you still want to go ahed with it, I would first check out your engine, compression tests, find out what your block can hold, performance upgrades available to enhance the turbo, etc. I attempted to do this once on my buddy's car which has comparable mileage and it turned into us not only installing a turbo, but completely redoing the top half (head gasket up) of the engine. It's fun if you have someone who has done it at least twice before, otherwise it'll probably be a nightmare.

Good luck.

Sean
