Hey guys I am really interested in a 6 series. I wanted to see if anyone has one and what they think of it. I love my 328 but I am thinking about moving up to the 6. Its got a sleak look to it that turns me on!! Let me know what your thoughts are on it.

one of my co-workers was leasing a new 6-series for a while and had nothing but problems with it. bmw finally agreed to actually take it back and refund his entire lease. one of my bosses has a new 5, and has had nothing but problems as well. majority of their issues have been electrical. and, unfortunately their bad experiences have made them never want to own a bmw ever again.

so, it's no joke that the 3 series is still bmw's flagship car for fun & reliability.

i've had my 99 323i since 98, and honestly it's been the most reliable car i've ever owned- even more than my old honda civic. the 5's, 6's, and 7's may look nice on the outside, but beauty is only skin deep.

About 6 months ago, I wanted a 650i coupe. Went to my local dealer, and one (brand new) wouldn't start and another had tons of electrical glitches on the test drive.

I think it's a hot car, but I think reliability has been bad. I have a feeling BMW won't come out with a new model 650i.

I can't believe that it was so bad that they refunded the whole lease. Shit. that is really sad. I have heard a few things about the 7 series but i had never heard much about the 6. That makes me think twice about getting one. Thanks for the input guys.

yah, i was pretty shocked to hear it too, 'cuz i thought that the 6 was supposed to be great- esp since bmw released an m6... my advice is to do some due diligence by reading up on all the info available from the major car publishers- ie consumer reports, edmunds.com, autoweek etc. and see what they say. that way u can better gauge how the overall reliability is. for a car with a price tag like that, u want to make sure u've done ur homework.

i would not based my opinion the observation of one person. i think if there were "REAL" problems with the 5 and 6-series it's competitors would make sure the entire world knew about it. besides all of the car mags would have already published something ... because bad news travels fast!

If someone can find "documented" reliability issues as voiced here, please post a weblink and we can assess the authenticity of the source.
