So I need to install a new passenger side fog lamp into my wife's BMW318i. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the steps that I need to take to do this. The new fog lamp I bought did not come with installation instructions, so I a little loss on how this should be done. Any help that you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Should be an area you can get a phillips screwdriver on the side of the fog lamp that is the release mechanism. Check on the side of the grill.

My goodness, this lamp was a bitch to reinstall. Because the plastic housing was also broken, that had to be taken out and replaced. So a total of 5 screws hold the plastic housing in. Once that is done, you connect the power source and then you slip the plastic tips into a hinge and snap the lamp into the housing. However, for whatever reason it still does not work. The driver side fog lamp works, but not the passenger side.

I checked the wire, and there were no frays. I also checked the fuse just in case. Everything seems ok. Any suggestions as to what I should check next?

If you have a voltmeter, take the lamp back out and check the voltage at the harness with the lights switched on. If you are getting voltage (+12?) then the problem is in the housing/bulb. If the voltage is zero at the harness then the problem is somewhere in the wiring (possible nightmare). I don't know where the wires split for each lamp, but maybe there is a wire off at the fuse? That would be the first place I would look.
