Welcome to the board, congrats on the car, i'm sure you will drive many happy miles in it!

DSC stands for Dynamic Stability control. This system will basically cut the power from the engine to the back wheels when the system believes there is not enough traction between the back wheels and the road to apply the power, hence keeping the rear end stable, and spoiling your fun! [fake]
When you press the DSC button, the system is relaxed and will not restrict power going to the rear wheels.

The sport button sharpens throttle response. Some drivers like it, other not so much.

Turn DSC off and enjoy the ///M power! [headbang]

By the way standard manual or SMGII?

Another thing, no offence, but it really surprises me how many people buy a car such as an M3 without really knowing much about the car.

Is it just me, or do other people find this?

This is essentially correct but DSC will also actually apply the brakes to individual wheels where slip is detected as well as curtailing engine power. Don't forget to depress the DSC button for a full 5 seconds to completely disable the system. Hitting it just once only partially disengages it.

I agree with E30 318is on the issue of many people not knowing what they're buying. I think this is why the car companies have to include all of these cubersome electronic safety devices to their cars so that total nutters have some protection!

I could be wrong, but i dont think this applies to ///M cars. I think just hitting the button will do the job. Apparently it is true for other models though...

Thanks for the info
my 3m is jet black ext ,black int , manual
I did research on the m3 and i'm quite happy with it ,just was a little hazy about some of the options, just needed a better definition.
It was a toss up between a vette or m3 , glad i went with the bimmer
0 to 60 it will beat most cars in its class 333 horsepower its nice,it will dust my 92 vette
I was a vette man until i test drove a m3 ,but i guess you can't compare z06 with 400 hp and a m3 with 333 hp of coruse 0 to 60 the vette just barely beats the m3

m3 is awesome i love it

i'll have some pictures posted soon.

Just remember with 333hp, your M3 isn't a drag car, and it wont outrun a Z06. But this car shines on the twisties! It was made for corners!
There it'll give the Vette a run for its money... [headbang]

i don't consider a z06 a drag car,maybe a high end sport car
I never said that you did, but the M3 most definately is not. I was just saying that the car would feel more at home on track than a dragstrip if that's what you are concerned about. (not trying to start an arguement)

Yes, I'm interested to know this as well. I was just going to PM you but this is easier. Those will look great on my [soon to be, hopefully] E30.... Either those or ASA AR1's.

You have no idea how many times i've tried to find this out. The rims were already on the car when i purchased it. They have no distinct markings on them, so i'm not sure how to find out...
But, they are 17" and run 215/40 rubber on them. I think they look good too.

As for the curb rash problem, i'm in Australia so I dont think i'd be much help, sorry. I'm sure other members on this board can help, or try m3forum.net, i've read about other owners getting their rims fixed.

Oh, and you HAVE to turn DSC off (when it's safe to), its like a whole new car!!![hihi]

Not that this is going to help, since I am in central Ohio, but Wheel Medic Inc did mine. I assume that it is a local shop after being there. After Sears wrenched my wheels when I changed out my original tires, they (Sears) got to pay to have the wheels fixed. Wheel medic did a great job - they look like new. They said that they do work for all the high end car dealers. I wasn't too sure that this was the way to go, but they had a set of 5-series wheels 1/2 done - I was able to see the before and after. That sold me.

That being said, the next set of tires will be bought from TireRack and I will take them to the Wheel Medic to be mounted and balanced... No more Sears... The factory wheel were balanced on the outside of the rim (Sears did the same thing) - Wheel Medic balanced them on the inside - no ugly wheel weights to see. When I said that to the Owner/Manager, he replied "We do wheels, Sears does tires...." Amen...

Also the cost was only $80/wheel, which I thought was very reasonable...
