Hi guys, new member here.

I'm trying to figure out how BMW handles their model lifecycle to determine when the 1-series is likely to receive a facelift so please correct me if I'm wrong.

X5: Launched approx December 1999 - Facelift November 2003 (4 years)
7 Series: Launched approx June 2002 - Facelift February 2006 (3 1/2 years)
Z4: Launched approx May 2003 - Facelift October 2005 (2 1/2 years)
5 Series: Launched approx July 2003 - Facelift DUE ( ??? years)
X3: Launched approx November 2003 - Facelift July 2006 (2 1/2 years)
1 Series: Launched approx March 2004 - Facelift DUE ( ??? years)

For the life of me I see no pattern in the model lifecycle. Some vehicles have been revised within only 2 1/2 years of release, while the X5 was left to soldier on for nearly 4 years. Does anyone know when the 1 series is likely to receive a facelift? With the launch of the 3 door perhaps? Please respond if you have any idea.

Thank you

I haven't read anything about facelifts yet, only the release of the coupe and convertible. It would seem that they would probably give a facelift if sales started to dwindle a little. While it's still hot, I think they would leave it alone... maybe... just an idea anyway!

The X5 was facelifted to make it more attractive and fancy, like the 7 series was.

The 5 series is a hit and they probably will not be facelifting it anytime soon, especially since they added the new features and engines and it's remaining the same. The X3 got a bumper-lift since thats been a complaint for quite some time. The X3 was further redesigned along with the Z4 since they're putting the new engines in them and probably want to differentiate the cars to improve sales. The 1 series is more like the 5-series without a facelift anywhere in sight. I agree with the above poster BMW uses facelifts to refresh models, and boost sales, there is no pattern. The 5 series is a good example of this, an 03' E39 looks almost identical to a 98' model.

The 1er is to hot, to young in the market 2007 should see some moderate changes, the 130 is a hot car, selling faster than Golfs.
Because it looks better, runs better, has more room, is faster and it is a BMW.
